TV Talk; Girl Meets World

When I think about Girl Meets World, I think my childhood show grew up and had kids and I love it! Boy Meets World was my favourite childhood show. When I was in 6th grade, I loved Cory and Topanga so much that I wrote a paper on their first kiss and decorated my agenda and locker with pictures of them! So to be able to watch them 15 years later all grown up with their own kids has been amazing. What a time to be alive!

I finally got around to catching up on this show this past weekend. I wanted to rewatch all of Boy Meets World before I did. That took me longer than I was expecting. But considering I rewatched Boy Meet World around the same time I was watching The Office, it makes sense. 9 seasons of The Office with 7 seasons of Boy Meets World is alot of TV to watch.

Riley Matthews; "You're Cory with Topanga's hair" - Shawn Hunter. I can't think of a better way to describe Riley. She really is her father's daughter. I love the relationship she has with her parents, particularly Cory. The staple of the show is her relationship with her best friend, Maya, they have a very Cory/Shawn relationship and it's adorable.

Maya Hart; She's the Shawn of the show where she's the best friend who has abandonment issues with her parents, mainly her dad. I love that she has similar problems like Shawn, but she's also got her own thing going on. She's fierce, loyal and doesn't take crap from anyone. I really love the relationship they are building with her and Shawn. (More on that later)

Lucas and Farkle; I like the addition of these boys and how they are in a group of friends with Riley and Maya. Lucas is the pretty boy from Texas who transferred to their school. He immediately is pegged the love interest for Riley. But I like how they are working on becoming friends first. Farkle is a Stuart Minkus' son which I think is fantastic. He loves both Riley and Maya equally, but he loves being their friend first and foremost. I love that him and Lucas are also best friends.

Auggie; Auggie is Cory and Topanga's second child and he is the most adorable little guy ever!! He's so funny, and I love his relationship with both of his parents. He idolizes his father, but is also a Mama's boy. Adorable!

Cory and Topanga; My childhood OTP! These two were perfect from the start, and they continue to be as they handle married life and being the parental unit on the show. They are just the perfect sitcom couple. I love how they work as parents, but also still make time for each other. Cory is filling the role Feeny had in that he's the kids' teacher and also imparting wisdom but still being very much Cory while he's at it. Topanga is a lawyer, but also took over the local bakery and making it a hangout for the kids. It's great to see them so interwoven in the kids life without making it too much. It's perfect, they're perfect!!

Shawn and Katy; I'm so happy they have Shawn starting to come in more, and I hope they can make it more a regular thing this season. As much as I loved Shawn and Angela on Boy Meets World, I think a part of me always felt like they weren't going to be endgame. They were so back and fourth, and I think they want different things in life. I'm not sure, I'm waiting to see what happens when Angela makes an appearance on the show. So far I'm actually liking the direction of Shawn and Maya's mom, Katy. I like that she was perceived wrong at first, and that Shawn made sure Maya knew that her mom is the good one, the one who stayed and works hard for her. I'm interested to see where they go with this storyline.

Shawn and Maya; I love the father/daughter dynamic they are setting up with them. They have so much in common, it's nice to see how much Maya wants him in her life. Even if he and her mom don't end up together, I'm more interested to see how they continue to handle these two. Anytime Shawn is on the show, the highlight is always his moments with Maya in my opinion.

BMW Characters; I love how the show will give callbacks to moments on Boy Meets World, showing brief clips from the show. I also like that characters from the past are starting to make appearances. Like when Alan, Amy, Josh and Shawn made their first appearance in the Christmas episode. It was great to see them all again. I also like that Josh and Shawn have been in more after that. Eric made his first appearance last friday and it was absolutely fantastic!! They all add a sense of familiarity to those of us who watched Boy Meets World. It's a really nice element of the show.

I've loved this show so much! I'm so glad I got caught up. I'm looking forward to where they go with this show, I hope it's on for a while. It's just such a fun show to watch!

Was Boy Meets World one of your childhood shows? Are you loving Girl Meets World?

Thanks for reading!!
