Synopsis:
Life is almost back to normal for Harper Price. The Ephors have been silent after their deadly attack at Cotillion months ago, and her best friend, Bee, has returned after a mysterious disappearance. Now Harper can focus on the important things in life: school, canoodling with David (her nemesis-turned-ward-slash-boyfie), and even competing in the Miss Pine Grove pageant.

Unfortunately, supernatural chores are never done. The Ephors have decided they’d rather train David than kill him. The catch: Harper has to come along for the ride, but she can’t stay David’s Paladin unless she undergoes an ancient trial that will either kill her . . . or make her more powerful than ever.

My Review:

Going into this book, I'd heard from a few book reviewers that it wasn't as good as the first and they didn't like it as much. Because I heard what others had said, I had low expectations for this book, and I ended up loving it! But I can agree that the first book was better, but not by much for me. I really liked this one as well.

It's always fun on supernatural shows when supporting characters aren't in the know, but it is a relief when some people find out what's going on. That's what I liked in this book, some of the people closest to Harper were in the know of what was going on with her and David.

The end was a little lackluster, and that's where this book went down a grade for me. It was all building up to something, and then just kind of flatlined. If I didn't know that there was going to be a third book, I would have thought this was the end of the series as there wasn't really any kind of cliffhanger. There was only one major thing that was kind of left on an unsatisfactory note, along with a some pieces that still weren't made clear.

Overall still a really good book. I'm loving this series, and I can't wait to read the third book next April.

Have you read the Rebel Belle series? What did you think of Miss Mayhem?
