Synopsis:
Harper Price, peerless Southern belle, was born ready for a Homecoming tiara. But after a strange run-in at the dance imbues her with incredible abilities, Harper's destiny takes a turn for the seriously weird. She becomes a Paladin, one of an ancient line of guardians with agility, super strength and lethal fighting instincts.

Just when life can't get any more disastrously crazy, Harper finds out who she's charged to protect: David Stark, school reporter, subject of a mysterious prophecy and possibly Harper's least favorite person. But things get complicated when Harper starts falling for him—and discovers that David's own fate could very well be to destroy Earth.

With snappy banter, cotillion dresses, non-stop action and a touch of magic, this new young adult series from bestseller Rachel Hawkins is going to make y'all beg for more.

My Review:

I LOVED THIS BOOK!!! All the good things I heard about this book turned out to be true. I loved the action, the banter, the storyline! It was all so well done, and I quickly immersed myself in this new world and loved it. I loved it so much that I'm going to start the sequel after I finish writing this review. Usually I wait a day or two before diving into a sequel.

If you were to ask me what my all-time favourite TV show is, I would say Buffy the Vampire Slayer. This book has a very Buffy-vibe to it with it's sense of humour, kickass action and the heroine is a girly badass. The book even made reference to BtVS a couple times, and that made me so happy! So if you're like me, and love Buffy, you will love this book!

The story is very interesting and I loved reading Harper go through this new world she's unintentionally stumbled upon. To see her go from being excited to have superpowers, to being scared for her life, to accepting her fate as a Paladin and David Stark's protector. I also really loved the relationship between Harper and David, and how they go from enemies to friends to possibly the start of something more. I also really enjoyed all the other supporting characters, and their relationship with Harper.

Such a good book overall!! This one skyrocketed to being on my list of top favourite books of all-time. I'm definitely looking forward to the rest of this series.

Have you read Rebel Belle? What are your thoughts on the book?

Thanks for reading!!

Michelle
